AnestAssist PK/PD serves as an educational instrument designed to facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and interactions associated with commonly used anesthetic agents.

It proves valuable for a broad spectrum of clinicians involved in anesthesiology, including anesthesiologists, CRNAs, veterinarians, and other healthcare professionals. Both residents and experienced practitioners can utilize AnestAssist to develop more rational dosing strategies tailored to individual patient characteristics.

The software incorporates mathematical models published in peer-reviewed anesthesia literature (accessible at www.palmamhealthcare.com) that consider patient-specific factors such as weight, age, and gender. These models enable users to estimate and visualize:

• Plasma Concentration for intravenous agents
• Alveolar Concentration for inhaled agents
• Effect Site Concentration
• Probability of Effect for individual and combined drugs, including assessments of:
• • Analgesia: absence of response to laryngoscopy
  • Sedation: OAA/S score < 2
  • Neuromuscular Blockade: T1/T0 ratio at 50%

The database includes intravenous drugs such as Propofol, Remifentanil, Fentanyl, Alfentanil, Sufentanil, Dexmedetomidine, Ketamine, Lidocaine, Morphine, Midazolam, Atracurium, Cisatracurium, Rocuronium, and Vecuronium. Inhaled agents feature Sevoflurane, Isoflurane, Desflurane, Enflurane, Halothane, and Nitrous Oxide.

Interaction modeling covers combinations involving Propofol, Sevoflurane or Isoflurane with opioids such as Remifentanil, Fentanyl, Alfentanil, or Sufentanil.

Advanced users have the capability to add additional drugs and customize PK/PD parameters beyond those provided initially.

The system allows for real-time documentation of administered drugs through an entry interface that facilitates recording during intraoperative procedures or retrospectively from anesthesia records. These cases can be stored within a dedicated Case Library for subsequent review.

The Case Library functionality supports saving actual clinical cases or creating custom scenarios to demonstrate various dosing strategies across different patient profiles and drug regimens.
